Who They Are
Zettel Family Farms is a multi-generation, family-run organic meat farm located in Chepstow, Ontario. The Zettel family has deep roots in Bruce County’s agricultural community, having been in operation since 1860. This inherited legacy allows them to focus on following sustainable and ethical farming practices that have been used for generations.
What makes them Special
They raise grass-fed, certified organic beef — meaning cattle are grown without synthetic pesticides, hormones, or GMOs. Their main breed of cattle is a Galloway mix, which has been in Canada for 165 years, almost as long as their farm has been in existence. These cattle love the outdoors and are excellent grazers, turning grass and hay into body weight. These cattle spend the entire summer on pasture and are fed fresh grass twice a day in small sections of pasture. During the winter they are fed hay exclusively. Grass-fed meat is sought after because of its taste and nutritional benefits, such as better omega fatty acid ratios.
